Granger Cobb
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Cobb has over 20 years of senior management experience in the senior residential, assisted living and skilled nursing industries. He has a proven approach for improving customer satisfaction, quality metrics, occupancy, and operating margins across a wide variety of senior residential and assisted living models and he has overseen Summerville’s growth to among the largest assisted living operators in the country. Mr. Cobb joined Summerville in 1998, with the acquisition of Cobbco, Inc., a California-based assisted living company, which he founded in 1989. Mr. Cobb is active in several industry associations, including serving on the boards of the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA), the National Investors Center (NIC), and chairing the California Assisted Living Association’s (CALA) political action committee.
Justin Hutchens
SVP & Chief Operating Officer Mr. Hutchens joined Summerville in 2001 as the Regional Director of Operations for the Northern California region. He was appointed to Senior-Vice President in 2003. Prior to joining Summerville, Mr. Hutchens has a multi-site management background in the areas of marketing and operations in the senior housing and long-term care arena. He has experience with over 150 skilled nursing and assisted living communities starting in 1994.
Melanie Werdel
Senior Vice President, Administration
Ms. Werdel is responsible for overseeing Summerville’s corporate compliance, licensing standards and requirements and the overall risk management and operational policies and procedures for the Company. Prior to joining the company in 1998, she served as the Vice President of Administration for Cobbco, Inc., a California-based assisted living and skilled nursing company. Ms. Werdel has over twelve years of long term care management experience and serves as the Board Chair of the California Assisted Living Association (CALA).
Jayne Sallerson
Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Ms. Sallerson has over 19 years of sales and marketing experience in
the healthcare industry. For the past 8 years, Ms. Sallerson has worked
specifically in the assisted living industry and has a successful record
of census growth in new development start-ups, turn-around communities
and acquisitions. Ms. Sallerson has developed and implemented a formal
sales training program specific to Assisted Living and has trained over
150 marketing and executive directors.
Lehnee S. Hernandez
Vice President, Finance / Controller
Ms. Hernandez oversees financial accounting and reporting, systems conversion
and implementation, budgeting and control processes, and due diligence
processes for the Company. Ms. Hernandez joined Summerville in 1998, bringing
10 years experience as accounting manager for Meadowbrook Rehabilitation
Group, Inc. a publicly traded healthcare organization.
Budgie Amparo
Vice President of Quality Services
Mr. Amparo came to Summerville from Kaiser Permanente, where he was charged
with developing and implementing clinical policies, systems, and procedures
for skilled nursing care operations. He was instrumental in the successful
opening of Kaiser’s first free standing skilled nursing facility.
Prior to that he spent almost 10 years with Mariner Post-Acute Network
in a variety of positions including overseeing Quality Assurance and regulatory
compliance for over 40 skilled nursing facilities in 11 states. Mr. Amparo
has a Master's degree in nursing and is a certified Director of Nursing Administration in Long Term Care (CDONA/LTC).
Darin Piers
Vice President, Property Management
Mr. Piers oversees the Maintenance Departments at Summerville’s
communities and is responsible for budgeting and project management of
all building renovations and capital improvements. In addition, Mr. Piers
oversees the Company’s workplace safety programs as well as regulatory
compliance issues related to the physical plants. Mr. Piers served in
the flooring/construction industry for 10 years before joining Cobbco,
Inc., a California-based assisted living company, in 1994 and Summerville
in 1998.
Keven Bennema
Vice President of Operations Development
Mr. Bennema has most
recently served as the Regional Vice President of Operations overseeing
Summerville’s East Coast communities. He has over ten years of experience
in the Senior Living and Long Term Care industries, including 5 years
with Summerville. Mr. Bennema has a successful record of effectively driving
operational priorities in support of Summerville’s Mission. He specializes
in identifying and cultivating excellent leadership and in the implementation
of operational strategies for start-ups, turn-around communities and acquisitions.
He has an MBA and is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in Ohio and
Florida.
Bill Sivill
Vice President of Information Technology
Mr. Sivill is responsible for
overseeing Summerville’s computer information and telecommunications
systems, which includes all communities as well as the corporate office
data center. He is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the integrity
of the company data, integrating databases to provide efficient processing
and desired reporting, and managing the software systems used to communicate
and transmit information to and from the Summerville communities. Mr.
Sivill has been with the company for over 5 years and holds a Bachelor
of Science in Information Technology.
